under development
These pages are a work in progress to develop a logging scheme which:
- respects users privacy
- reduces the liability of the OSP be limiting the data which they retain.
- is fast and efficient
- is easy to read and is logically organized.
- makes it still possible to track down errors, spammers, and abuse of server resources.
for this, we use syslog-ng-anon, a privacy patch to syslog-ng.
- syslog-ng.conf
- Our sample syslog-ng.conf
- Rotating
- Our sample /etc/logrotate.d/syslog-ng file.
- Apache
- Using syslog-ng to log for apache.
